The Baejae High School baseball team has sparked controversy at the Blue Dragon National High School Baseball Championship after using a cheer slogan that mocked the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement during their game against Gwangju Jeil High School.

Lee Soon-chul, an SBS baseball commentator and a legend of the Tigers who hails from Gwangju, pointed out the need for empathy among players and the responsibility of coaches, stating, "Character education must accompany athletic training."

The Korea Baseball Softball Association has suspended the Baejae High School baseball team from national competitions for six months, and their game scheduled for tomorrow, July 2, will be recorded as a forfeit.

The association plans to deliberate on additional disciplinary actions for individual coaches and players in the future.

We bring you the heartfelt advice of commentator Lee Soon-chul via Sports Mug.
