▲ Steel H-beams spilled onto the road
A section of the Incheon-Gimpo Expressway was fully closed after H-beams, a type of structural steel used in construction, fell onto the road.
At approximately 7:40 a.m. today (July 1), a report was received that H-beams being transported by a trailer had fallen onto the road near the Geomdan-Yangchon Interchange in the direction of Gimpo.
Due to the accident, all lanes in the Gimpo-bound direction of the affected section were closed.
As the H-beams fell, they struck a passenger car traveling in the third lane, causing the vehicle to be pushed forward and collide with a truck ahead.
It has been confirmed that there were no casualties.
An investigation revealed that the trailer driver, identified as a man in his 60s surnamed A, had swerved toward the right shoulder after noticing traffic congestion late while driving, which led to the accident.
The police plan to investigate the driver for violating the Trucking Transport Business Act.
