The Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station announced that it has arrested a man in his 20s from Central Asia, identified as A, on charges of theft and driving without a license in violation of the Road Traffic Act.
A is accused of stealing a 1-ton truck parked in a parking lot in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, at approximately 1:20 a.m. on June 22 and driving it without a license.
He stole the vehicle, which had been left unlocked, and drove approximately 100 km from Cheonan to Incheon.
Around 10:00 a.m. the following day, police confirmed that the vehicle driven by A had entered the jurisdiction of Namdong-gu, Incheon, and subsequently identified his expected route and strengthened patrols.
After a 10 km pursuit, police located the suspect vehicle, blocked his escape route, and arrested A in an emergency operation.
It is reported that A did not provide a clear motive for the crime during police questioning.
The court issued an arrest warrant for A on June 25, citing a risk of flight.
