North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
In the message, Kim stated, "On behalf of all party members, the Korean people, and myself, I extend warm congratulations to you, and through you, to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, all members of your party, and the fraternal Chinese people."
Referring to the summit held in Pyongyang last month, he emphasized that it was a "historic occasion that deepened comradely friendship and trust, and reaffirmed our unwavering will to more powerfully drive socialist construction in both countries and the traditional friendly relations between them."
He added, "I am willing to continue to elevate and develop the DPRK-China friendship and cooperation, which is the common asset of our two peoples, in line with the demands of the times, while further shining socialism, the common cause of our two parties, together with you, General Secretary."
In a separate report, the KCNA stated that the North Korean ambassador to China delivered a floral basket to celebrate the Communist Party's founding anniversary through an official from the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers' Party, featured the news of Kim's congratulatory message and the delivery of the floral basket on its front page. On page 6, which covers international news, the paper published articles related to China, including those titled "The Increasingly Strengthening Communist Party of China" and "Chinese Government Implements Sanctions Against Japan."
