Son Heung-min, captain of the national football team that was eliminated in the group stage of the North and Central America World Cup, returned home with his teammates a short while ago.

Fans who gathered at the airport from the early morning hours welcomed and comforted the players, a stark contrast to the shouting and insults directed at former head coach Hong Myung-bo upon his arrival yesterday (June 30).

Emerging from the arrival gate with his teammates, Son greeted the fans who came to support him with a calm expression. When asked questions by reporters, he only said, "I am sorry," before leaving the airport.

Son plans to recharge in Korea for the time being before departing for the United States to join his club, LA FC, for their upcoming match schedule.

With the arrival of the remaining squad members, the national team's World Cup journey has officially come to an end.
