Broadcaster and single mom Ji Yeon-soo has shared her realistic perspective on the challenges of child support following her divorce.

On June 29, a video titled "Ji Yeon-soo's Thoughts on Ex-Husband's Child Support" was uploaded to her YouTube channel, "Ji Yeon-soo's Yeonsu-ropda." In the video, Ji sat down with reporter Yoo Soo-kyung to discuss viewer stories and share her own experiences regarding child support and the realities of raising a child alone.

When a viewer shared their struggle with an ex-spouse who fails to pay child support while posting photos of luxury shopping, omakase meals, and vacations on social media, Ji empathized, saying, "This is a reality that so many single moms face."

She explained, "The minimum child support is about 640,000 won, and I receive 850,000 won. In reality, there are not as many people as you might think who receive their child support properly." She continued, "At some point, I decided to let go. I realized that it is more realistic for me to work and earn the money myself rather than constantly waiting and fighting over when or why the child support isn't being paid."

She added, "Of course, child support is the child's right, so it is money that must be paid. However, I couldn't let my own life fall apart while waiting for it. In the end, I think I've been able to endure by telling myself that I need to live even harder."

Ji also spoke about the practical difficulties she faced while raising her son, Min-soo, as a single mother. "When the child is young, it is not easy to hold down a proper job. You often have to settle for part-time work to match daycare or school pickup times. If your child suddenly gets sick, you have to drop everything—no matter how important the work is—and run to the hospital. In those moments, there is only the mother. You have to grit your teeth and endure because you are responsible for the livelihood," she said calmly.

Previously, on June 22, Ji made headlines on the same channel by expressing her sincere congratulations on the remarriage of her ex-husband, former U-KISS member Eli, stating, "I have already found happiness with Min-soo."

Ji Yeon-soo and Eli share a son, Min-soo, but ended their six-year marriage in 2020. They later appeared together on the TV Chosun variety show "We Got Divorced," but did not reconcile.
