The South Korean national football team, led by head coach Hong Myung-bo, returned home early this morning (June 30), marking the end of the country's journey in the North and Central America World Cup.
Although the team failed to advance to the Round of 32, it has been reported that each player will receive 80 million won in bonuses.
The national team, managed by Hong Myung-bo, recorded one win and two losses in the group stage.
They finished third in their group.
The team failed to qualify for the wild card spots awarded to the eight best third-place teams, ultimately finishing the tournament in 34th place.
Despite the group stage elimination, the total prize money for the 26 players on the national team amounts to 2.08 billion won.
According to the Korea Football Association's bonus criteria, all 26 players on the final roster will receive a base allowance of 50 million won.
In addition, a victory bonus of 30 million won for the win against the Czech Republic in the group stage will be added.
The bonuses are expected to be distributed equally among all 26 players, regardless of their playing time or whether they actually participated in the matches.
Previously, during the 2022 Qatar World Cup, the team led by Paulo Bento, which successfully reached the Round of 16 for only the second time in an away tournament, received up to 340 million won per player.
