A high school in Busan is in an uproar after a smartphone suspected of being used for illegal filming was discovered in a girls' restroom.

On June 26, a post regarding the discovery of a smartphone suspected of illegal filming on a window frame in a girls' restroom was publicized via social media.

The author of the post claimed, "During the break after the sixth period, a smartphone, presumed to have been installed by a male student, was found in the girls' restroom for third-year students."

"It was even connected to a portable battery," the author stated, adding, "Female students are suffering from extreme anxiety as it is unclear exactly when it was installed and how long the filming had been taking place."

Another poster stated, "The culprit was quickly identified because it was a smartphone," and added, "The suspect claims that he did not install it himself but merely lent the phone to someone else, raising the possibility of an accomplice."

The shared photos show a smartphone placed on the window frame of the girls' restroom with its lens facing downward.

The school stated that upon discovering the smartphone suspected of illegal filming, it immediately reported the incident to the Office of Education and notified the police.

The school said, "We are currently sharing the situation with the School Police Officer (SPO), have filed a report with 112, and are awaiting forensic results after securing relevant materials and evidence," adding, "We are conducting a thorough inspection of all school facilities in the presence of the police."

The school further stated, "We plan to take strict follow-up measures in accordance with relevant regulations based on the investigation results," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that no secondary victimization occurs."

It is reported that investigative authorities have collected evidence from the scene, reviewed CCTV footage, and secured the smartphone and other evidence.
