President Lee Jae-myung expressed his deep gratitude to Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, who announced large-scale investment plans for the "3 Major Mega Projects," including semiconductors, physical AI, and AI data centers, by bowing to them.
He further promised that the government would provide firm support for corporate investments in regions such as the southwest.
On this day (the 29th), President Lee listened to the future investment plans presented by Chairman Lee and Chairman Chey at the "Republic of Korea Great Leap Forward: 3 Major Mega Projects National Report Meeting" held at the Blue House.
After the two chairmen finished their presentations, President Lee joined them on stage and said, "This is a truly moving moment. I can dare to say that a new history of the Republic of Korea is beginning."
He continued, "While companies operate for profit, they have also clearly demonstrated that they can act for the future of the national community," adding, "I would like to call these two gentlemen national heroes."
He then stated, "On behalf of the people, I would like to express my gratitude for the difficult decisions you have made for the future of our citizens and the Republic of Korea," before bowing 90 degrees to Chairman Lee and Chairman Chey and shaking their hands.
Chairman Lee responded by saying, "We will do our best," while shaking hands with the President.

In the subsequent discussion, President Lee promised full-scale support for corporate regional investments.
In particular, he stated, "I, as President, will take personal responsibility for ensuring rapid 'one-stop administrative procedures'."
President Lee also promised, "Electricity and water supply will likely incur significant costs, but since the Special Act on Semiconductors specifies priority support for local regions, I will certainly take responsibility for this part as well."
Regarding electricity rates, he said, "When additional factories are installed in the Gwangju and South Jeolla Province regions, electricity rates become important. In accordance with the principle of 'local production for local consumption,' I will ensure that there are clear advantages in power rates."
He also announced efforts to improve labor supply conditions in new investment areas such as the southwest region.
President Lee predicted, "Building residential environments, cultural infrastructure, and health infrastructure is important," adding, "Support for those regions will also be significantly increased."
