The Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Office is launching a special inspection of Hanwha Aerospace's Daejeon plant, where an accident resulted in seven casualties.
A special inspection is conducted by labor authorities when two or more deaths occur in a single workplace due to an industrial accident. Starting today, June 29, the Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Office plans to deploy approximately 40 personnel, including labor inspectors, to examine safety management practices across all facilities at the site.
The inspection will primarily focus on whether essential safety measures to prevent explosions have been implemented and how flammable and combustible materials are handled. Authorities intend to assess the overall level of safety management at the workplace through methods such as interviews with on-site employees.
The labor authorities stated that they will immediately impose fines or initiate legal proceedings for any violations of the law discovered during the inspection.
In addition, the labor office plans to form a joint inspection team with relevant agencies, including the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, to verify whether military explosives are being managed properly.
