Director Na Hong-jin’s first film in 10 years, HOPE, is set to be unveiled on July 6.

Investment and distribution company Plus M Entertainment announced, "We will hold the press and distribution screening for HOPE on July 6."

HOPE begins with people chasing an entity that attacks a rural village, then expands into a story that shifts to a new perspective as the characters fight to protect their home. It is the latest work from director Na Hong-jin, known for The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, and The Wailing, and has garnered significant attention as an official selection for the competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

Known as a blockbuster with the largest production budget in Korean film history, HOPE is arguably the most anticipated Korean movie of 2026. This anticipation is not merely due to its massive budget. It is a sci-fi project that encapsulates the vision of Na Hong-jin, a next-generation master following in the footsteps of Lee Chang-dong, Park Chan-wook, and Bong Joon-ho, and features a star-studded cast including Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, and Alicia Vikander.

However, the film faces challenges following the commencement of rehabilitation procedures for Megabox JoongAng, the parent company of distributor Plus M. It is a reality that the film, despite its massive production scale, faces difficulties in allocating funds for promotion and marketing.

Fortunately, HOPE is already a highly anticipated project that does not rely on massive promotional campaigns to capture audience attention. It has already generated buzz through the Cannes Film Festival, and its international competitiveness has been proven through pre-sales to 200 countries, which also helped lower the break-even point. As a result, expectations among domestic audiences have reached an all-time high.

Plus M plans to hold the press screening 10 days before the release, aiming to generate word-of-mouth through the press and critics. The strategy is to skip the production briefing and go straight to the press and distribution screening to showcase the true value of the film. The screening will be held at the Dolby Cinema at Megabox COEX in Samseong-dong, known for having the best sound facilities in Korea.

HOPE will be released on July 15.
