A police officer in the Daejeon region is under investigation on charges of insulting and stalking a female colleague.
The Daejeon Yuseong Police Station announced that it is investigating a police superintendent, identified as A, on charges of insult and violation of the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes.
Superintendent A is accused of insulting the physical appearance of a female officer, B, by comparing her to an animal during a private gathering in late March.
Following the incident, A is accused of stalking officer B by sending her dozens of text messages over several hours after she left the scene.
It is reported that the text messages contained content disparaging officer B's appearance and work performance.
The police initially forwarded the case to the prosecution without detention, concluding that there was sufficient evidence to support the charges. However, the prosecution requested a supplementary investigation, asking for additional witness interviews.
The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency stated that Superintendent A has been transferred to another police station and that they plan to forward the case again once the additional witness interviews are completed.
