Incheon City has revised the operational procedures and content of its disaster text alert system to provide citizens with prompt and accurate information during emergencies.
Key revisions include changing the official name from Emergency Disaster Text to Disaster Text Broadcast and adding the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education to the list of authorized agencies, which previously only included the city government, local districts, and municipal public corporations.
The city has removed text templates with low practical relevance, such as those regarding falling artificial objects or crude oil supply, and introduced new templates directly related to daily life, including heavy snow, heatwaves, cold waves, traffic control, and school closures.
Furthermore, the city has established a protocol allowing for the issuance of disaster text alerts for major issues closely affecting citizens' lives that are not explicitly specified in the regulations, such as public transport strikes, following a review by the relevant department and approval from the vice mayor.
