Foreign media reports suggest that the United States and Iran, which have been exchanging airstrikes for the past few days, have agreed to halt their attacks. The two countries are scheduled to meet in Qatar on the 30th to discuss resolving the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Here is a report from Washington correspondent Lee Han-seok.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz stated that the U.S. military will continue to conduct military operations against Iran, which has been attacking merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

He warned that it would be a mistake for Iran to think that U.S. President Trump would simply watch as attacks on international shipping and U.S. military bases continue.

He warned that the U.S. would continue to neutralize Iranian infrastructure if necessary.

He added that Iran's leverage is diminishing, emphasizing that it would be wise for Iran to pursue a diplomatic solution and step back from its obsession with nuclear weapons.

Iran has not backed down either.

Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, pointed out on social media that all actions taken by the U.S. military and Israel against the Iranian people through forced war are legal issues that must be handled by domestic courts.

He emphasized that what is certain is that these criminals must be arrested and held accountable for their criminal acts.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged the U.S. not to interfere with the measures Iran is preparing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and to comply with the signed memorandum of understanding on ending the hostilities.

Meanwhile, the U.S. online media outlet Axios reported that the United States and Iran have agreed to meet in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on the 30th to discuss solutions regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

It also reported that both sides have agreed to halt attacks against each other.

Attention is now focused on whether the talks between the two countries can bear fruit in resolving the current hardline standoff.
