President Lee Jae-myung has publicly encouraged Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Tae-sun (representing Dong-gu, Ulsan) and Ulsan Mayor-elect Kim Sang-wook via social media, stating, "I trust that you will build a new 'City of Hope, Ulsan'."
On his social media account today (June 28), President Lee wrote, "I support the Ulsan that lawmaker Kim Tae-sun and Mayor-elect Kim love," adding the aforementioned message of encouragement.
He further added, "We must also resolve Ulsan's biggest grievance, the establishment of a national or public hospital, right?" and remarked, "These days, Mayor-elect Kim Sang-wook's public meetings are worth watching."
For years, Ulsan citizens have been demanding the establishment of a regional public general hospital that provides comprehensive emergency and intensive care services.
They argue that as an industrial city with a population of 1.1 million, a public general hospital is essential to respond to emergencies, infectious diseases, and industrial accidents.
Ulsan Mayor-elect Kim Sang-wook has recently been live-streaming his activities, including meetings on improving city bus services and the work reports following the launch of his transition committee.
