The police have requested an arrest warrant for a man in his 70s accused of attacking an acquaintance in his 40s with a weapon at the Ilmin Museum of Art in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

The Seoul Jongno Police Station announced today, June 27, that it has filed for an arrest warrant for the suspect, identified as A, on charges of attempted murder and preparation for arson.

A is accused of swinging a sickle at the victim, B, on the fourth floor of the Ilmin Museum of Art, located inside the Dong-A Ilbo building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of June 26.

Following the incident, A fled to Samgakji Station, but police apprehended him in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, at approximately 5:50 p.m. on June 26.

The police also secured a bag at the scene believed to belong to A.

It was discovered that the bag contained a container filled with flammable substances.

B was transported to a hospital with an arm injury, but his life is reported to be out of danger.

The police plan to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the crime.
