A migrant worker from Mongolia died after being struck by a pipe at a ship component manufacturing plant in the Daebul Industrial Complex in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province, at approximately 8:30 a.m. today (June 27).

Police stated that the victim, a woman in her 40s identified as A, was preparing for painting work when she was struck in the chest by a pipe. She showed symptoms of respiratory distress and was transported to a nearby hospital but eventually passed away.

At the time of the accident, A was moving the pipe with a colleague using a crane. It is reported that the accident occurred when the pipe suspended from the crane began to sway.

Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident and whether safety protocols were followed.
