The Lotte Giants continue their upward momentum, this time defeating the league-leading LG Twins.
In a home game against the LG Twins held at Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan on June 26, the Lotte Giants secured a 3-2 victory, backed by a strong pitching performance from starter Na Gyun-an and a three-RBI effort from Jeon Min-jae.
With this win, the eighth-place Giants have now gone 8-1-1 in their last 10 games, fueling their hopes for a postseason berth.
The game featured a pitching duel between Na Gyun-an and Im Chan-kyu. After a quiet start with no hits, Lotte broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning with consecutive hits from Yoon Dong-hee and Na Seung-yeop.
Following a sacrifice bunt by Park Seung-wook, Jeon Min-jae hit an RBI double down the right-field line to give Lotte a 2-0 lead.
LG responded in the top of the sixth inning. After Hong Chang-ki hit an infield single and Park Hae-min followed with a double down the right-field line, Moon Bo-gyeong hit a sacrifice fly to center field with one out and runners on second and third. Song Chan-eui then drove in another run with an RBI single to right field, tying the game at 2-2.
However, Lotte reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the seventh. After Park Seung-wook hit a single to left field with two outs, Jeon Min-jae delivered a double to left-center, driving in the winning run.
Lotte starter Na Gyun-an pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out five to earn his fourth win of the season (6 losses).
This victory marked Na's first win at Sajik Stadium this season after suffering six consecutive losses at home.
LG starter Im Chan-kyu allowed three runs on five hits over seven innings but was handed the loss due to a lack of run support, ending his seven-game winning streak.
The first-place LG Twins have now lost two games in a row.
In Changwon, the NC Dinos staged a comeback to defeat the Kiwoom Heroes 11-4.
Kiwoom took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning after Seo Geon-chang hit a triple to center field with one out and runners on first and second, followed by an RBI single from Chu Jae-hyun with two outs.
In the top of the fourth, Kim Woong-bin, who reached base on a surprise bunt, scored on a center-field single by Kim Dong-heon to extend the lead to 4-0.
NC began their pursuit in the bottom of the fourth with consecutive hits from Kim Ju-won and Lee Woo-sung, followed by a sacrifice fly from Park Min-woo and an RBI double to left-center by Matt Davidson, narrowing the gap to 2-4.
In the sixth, NC capitalized on an opponent's error and combined three hits with five walks to score six runs, turning the game around to 8-4.
In the bottom of the eighth, NC sealed the victory with three more runs, including a two-RBI single by Davidson.
Davidson, who played his farewell game after being notified of his release, finished with two hits and three RBIs in four at-bats, ending his tenure on a high note.
The last-place Kiwoom Heroes have now fallen into a 10-game losing streak, tying their franchise record.
The Doosan Bears defeated the KIA Tigers 3-2 in a home game at Jamsil.
Doosan took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Kim Min-seok hit an RBI single to right field with two outs and runners on first and second, following two walks.
In the fifth, after Ryu Seung-min drew a walk with two outs and successfully stole second base, Park Jun-sun hit an RBI single to left-center to make it 2-0.
Doosan added another run in the sixth on an RBI single by Ahn Jae-seok to extend the lead to 3-0.
KIA attempted a comeback in the top of the ninth when Park Jung-woo hit a two-RBI single with two outs and the bases loaded, but they were unable to complete the rally.
Doosan starter Gwak Been pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out five to earn his sixth win of the season (3 losses).
Fifth-place Doosan, now on a three-game winning streak, returned to a .500 winning percentage with a record of 37 wins, 37 losses, and 2 draws.
Fourth-place KIA saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.
In Incheon, the Hanwha Eagles defeated the SSG Landers 9-2.
Hanwha took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning after Yonathan Perlaza was hit by a pitch and Moon Hyun-bin reached on an infield single, followed by a sacrifice fly from Kang Baek-ho and an RBI single by Heo In-seo.
SSG scored one run in the bottom of the fifth when Choi Ji-hoon hit an RBI single to left field to drive in Kim Sung-wook, who had doubled.
Hanwha extended their lead to 4-1 in the top of the sixth with a two-run homer by Roh Si-hwan, and SSG added a run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run by Kim Seung-wook.
However, Hanwha secured the win by scoring five runs in the top of the eighth, including a two-run homer by Kim Tae-yeon.
Roh Si-hwan continued his hot hitting streak, recording a home run in his fourth consecutive game.
In Daegu, where the second and third-place teams clashed, the Samsung Lions routed the kt wiz 9-1.
Kt took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning when Sam Hilliard hit a solo home run over the right-field fence.
Trailing, Samsung turned the game around in the bottom of the seventh by sending all nine batters to the plate and scoring eight runs in a single inning.
After tying the game 1-1 with four consecutive hits, Samsung added four more runs due to a pitching error, an RBI single by Kim Ji-chan, and a sacrifice fly by Park Seung-gyu to take a 5-1 lead.
With the momentum on their side, Lewin Diaz hit a three-run homer over the right-field fence with one out and runners on first and second, extending the lead to 8-1 and effectively deciding the game.
Samsung added one more run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single by Park Seung-gyu.
Third-place Samsung is now just half a game behind second-place kt.
