On June 25, local time, Romina Pourmokhtari (30), Sweden's Minister for Climate and the Environment, attended the EU Environment Council meeting held in Luxembourg with her three-month-old son, Adam, in a baby carrier.
Having recently returned to work after maternity leave, she explained that she brought her son to highlight the benefits of a parental leave system that allows women to balance both work and family life without having to choose one over the other.
She stated, "I wanted to be an example that you do not have to choose between work and childcare." An official from the Council of the European Union noted that this is the first time a baby has attended an EU ministerial meeting.
