U.S. President Donald Trump focused on appeasing the agricultural sector on June 25 (local time), stating that Iran would use funds to be unfrozen in the future to purchase American agricultural products.

President Trump invited agricultural leaders to the White House Rose Garden that evening for a dinner.

In his speech before the dinner, he said, "Iran is having a hard time with food, and we're going to take some of their money and use it," adding, "They're going to buy a lot of wheat, soybeans, and corn, and that process will start pretty quickly."

He emphasized that the scale of the purchases would be "pretty big."

This was a reaffirmation before agricultural leaders of his plan to ensure that when Iran's frozen assets are released, the funds are used to purchase U.S. agricultural products.

The remarks appear intended to soothe farmers hit by rising prices, including oil prices, though Iran maintains that it will decide how to use its own unfrozen funds.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the former Iranian nuclear negotiator and current Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, hit back at President Trump's remarks, stating, "The U.S. is making false claims that we will use the unfrozen assets to buy their agricultural products."

Ghalibaf commented on X that such claims by the U.S. were "interesting," and retorted, "The only crop we are harvesting is the distrust that the U.S. has been planting for decades. The U.S. only exports GMO soybeans, broken promises, and nonsense."

According to Russia's RIA Novosti news agency, Abdolnaser Hemmati, Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, also insisted that there would be no forced measures regarding the use of the unfrozen assets.

However, he added that there would be no problem with purchasing U.S. goods if the price and quality were at an acceptable level.

President Trump also claimed, "We are negotiating (with Iran) from a position of pure strength," asserting that the Strait of Hormuz has already been opened, Iran has agreed 100% not to possess nuclear weapons, and that both oil prices and inflation are falling.

President Trump stated that he had signed an executive order for agricultural innovation.

He repeatedly praised the agricultural leaders, saying, "I have tremendous respect for you. You built America."

Managing the farming community, a core support base, is a critical issue for President Trump ahead of the midterm elections in November.

By hosting the White House dinner while celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States are in full swing, he effectively emphasized the importance that farmers have held in American history and the economy.

In his speech that day, President Trump also mentioned the strong earthquake in Venezuela and announced plans for U.S. support.
