Regarding the allegations that First Lady Kim Keon-hee received a "gold turtle" from former National Education Commission Chairperson Lee Bae-yong, the court ruled today (June 26) that "the gold turtle in this case was provided for the purpose of soliciting influence over the exercise of presidential appointment powers." The court further stated, "It is sufficiently recognized that Kim Keon-hee accepted the gift while being aware of its purpose and the quid pro quo relationship."
