Pope Leo XIV has provided 100,000 euros (approximately 175 million KRW) in aid to Venezuela, which has suffered significant damage from a powerful earthquake.

The funds were delivered on June 25 (local time) through the Office of Papal Charities, which oversees the Pope's charitable activities, following consultations with the Apostolic Nuncio to Venezuela and other officials.

A Vatican official stated, "We will continue to pay close attention to the damage in Venezuela and make efforts at the church level."

On June 24 (local time), a series of strong earthquakes, reaching a maximum magnitude of 7.5, occurred near Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.

The number of casualties identified so far has reached 1,000.
