The small island nation of Cape Verde, with a population of 520,000, has emerged as the protagonist of a major upset in this World Cup.

Despite this being their first-ever appearance in the World Cup finals, they have stunned football fans around the world by drawing 0:0 against Spain and 2:2 against Uruguay.
