U.S. Dispatches Rescue Teams to Venezuela Following 'Serial Earthquakes'; Trump Says, 'We Are Willing to Help'

The United States is dispatching emergency rescue teams to Venezuela following a series of powerful earthquakes.

Countries across Latin America have also mobilized military personnel and available resources to provide emergency relief support.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social, on the 24th (local time) regarding the earthquake in Venezuela, "The United States is willing and able to help Venezuela."

"I have directed all government agencies to be prepared to move quickly," President Trump added. "We will stand with our new and great friends. The initial reports are not good."

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on X, "The United States extends its deepest condolences to the people of Venezuela following the devastating earthquake." He added, "Under President Trump's direction, the State Department is immediately deploying search and rescue teams, medical resources, and humanitarian aid to Venezuela."

Jeremy Lewin, Deputy Secretary for Foreign Assistance, reported that the State Department has already activated a disaster assistance team and a task force (TF) to support Venezuela.

Countries in Latin America near Venezuela have also expressed solidarity and initiated immediate responses.

El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele said in a statement, "I express my deepest condolences to the people of Venezuela during this difficult time," adding, "I send them my full solidarity and prayers."

President Bukele stated that El Salvador has offered humanitarian aid to Venezuela and that it could immediately deploy a rescue team of 300 personnel.

Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader announced that he plans to dispatch military personnel specialized in search and rescue to assist Venezuelan authorities early on the 25th.

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa also stated that he would take measures to send immediate humanitarian aid to Venezuela, and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has instructed his foreign ministry to review support options, according to The New York Times (NYT).

The Bolivian Foreign Ministry stated, "We express our support for the people of our brother nation, Venezuela," and the Mexican Foreign Ministry also announced, "We express our deep solidarity with the Venezuelan people and deeply regret the damage and impact caused by this situation."

The Chilean government conveyed its solidarity with Venezuela, stating, "We are willing to provide humanitarian aid and rescue operations."
