Composer and television personality Yoo Jae-hwan has changed his stage name to 'Jeong-gyeong' and resumed his music career as part of a co-ed band.
According to the music industry on the 25th, Yoo has formed a co-ed band named ROSE with rookie singer-songwriter Yoon Ji-yu. The duo released their debut track, "Faster Than the Waves," on the 12th.
Yoo has been embroiled in controversy since 2023.
He faced allegations of soliciting victims through social media with promises to compose songs for free, only to fail to deliver on those promises. Additionally, he was investigated on charges of indecent assault. While he apologized and expressed his intention to provide refunds regarding the composition-related controversies, he has consistently denied the charges of indecent assault.
Last November, the Seoul Southern District Court found him guilty of indecently assaulting a woman he had met for the first time, sentencing him to a fine of 5 million KRW and ordering him to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program. Yoo appealed the ruling, and the appellate trial is currently underway. The sentencing for the appeal is scheduled for the 16th of next month.
Amidst the various controversies, Yoo also sparked further backlash after posting on his social media that he had attempted to take his own life, only to wake up five days later.
