The film 'Pupil,' starring actress Shin Min-a, has edged out the Hollywood blockbuster 'Supergirl' by a margin of just two viewers.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater tickets on the 25th, 'Pupil' debuted at No. 2 at the box office, drawing 34,941 viewers nationwide on its release day, the 24th. While there is a gap between it and 'Toy Story 5' (75,207 viewers), it had a promising start by securing the second spot on its opening day. Most notably, the result of surpassing a Hollywood superhero movie is encouraging.
'Pupil' is a suspense thriller about Seo-jin, who is gradually losing her eyesight due to a genetic disease, as she uncovers the truth behind the suspicious death of her twin sister.
Shin Min-a took on a dual role, playing both Seo-jin, a photographer who is losing her vision due to a genetic disease and investigates her twin sister's death, and Seo-in, her twin sister who overcame visual impairment to become a successful ceramic artist but met a mysterious end.
