Police plan to request an arrest warrant for a man in his 30s who entered a woman's home under the guise of doing a cleaning job found on the second-hand trading platform Karrot (Danggeun) and threatened her with a weapon.

The Namyangju Nambu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on Thursday (June 25) that it intends to seek an arrest warrant for the suspect, identified as A, on charges of attempted special robbery.

A is accused of threatening a woman in her 30s, identified as B, with a weapon inside her apartment in Hwado-eup, Namyangju, at noon the previous day.

When B resisted, A fled the scene. He was apprehended by police in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, about six hours later at 6:10 p.m.

B sustained injuries to her neck and arms, but they were not life-threatening, and it is reported that no money or belongings were stolen.

It is reported that A approached B after seeing her post on the Karrot app seeking someone to clean her bathroom. He allegedly lured B into the bathroom before threatening her with the weapon.

The police changed the initial charge from special intimidation to attempted special robbery, as they believe A intended to commit a serious crime, such as robbery or a sex offense.

The police are currently investigating A to determine the exact motive and circumstances of the crime, as well as any potential prior offenses.
