A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Venezuela on the afternoon of June 24 (local time), Reuters reported, citing the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
According to the report, strong tremors were felt in the capital, Caracas, prompting citizens to evacuate immediately.
The U.S. Tsunami Warning System has issued a tsunami warning for parts of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands following the quake.
As of now, the extent of casualties or property damage related to the earthquake has not been confirmed.
