The United States and Iran, which have entered into 60 days of follow-up negotiations, are engaged in a battle of truth over the issue of nuclear inspections. While Iran has denied ever agreeing to inspections of its nuclear facilities, President Trump has repeatedly insisted that such inspections will take place. Meanwhile, a resolution limiting President Trump's military actions has passed the U.S. Senate.

After Iran completely denied the U.S. announcement that an agreement had been reached on inspections of enriched uranium during the peace talks in Switzerland, President Trump reacted sharply.
Stating that Iran is wrong, he argued that IAEA inspection teams will be deployed to nuclear facility sites at the appropriate time.
[Donald Trump / President of the United States: Iran is wrong. They know they are wrong. If they were right, I would have canceled the meeting immediately.]
This is interpreted as a warning that if Iran refuses inspections while the U.S. and Iran are set to continue high-level talks and follow-up working-level negotiations, the talks could fall apart.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi also stated that he would soon discuss inspection methods with Iran, while emphasizing that it is important for Iran to disclose the location of its highly enriched uranium.
In the U.S. Senate, after 10 attempts, a resolution to prevent Trump's unilateral military action against Iran passed with 50 votes in favor and 48 against.
The defection of four Republican senators was decisive, and the Democratic Party is signaling a fierce offensive over the massive costs of war and poor results.
[Hakeem Jeffries / House Democratic Leader: We must not spend another penny of taxpayer money on a 'failed operation' that was nothing short of a disaster.]
President Trump boasted on social media that the Senate has made his job difficult but that he will manage it somehow. However, public support for a war with Iran stands at only 24%, and President Trump's approval rating is hovering at 34%, the lowest of his second term.
