As authorities continue their efforts to capture 11 wolf-dogs that escaped from a breeding farm in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, reports of sightings have emerged in the neighboring city of Dangjin.

According to the South Chungcheong Fire Headquarters and other officials, a report was received at approximately 6:20 a.m. today stating that "a dog that appears to be a wolf-dog is roaming around" in Sudang-ri, Jeongmi-myeon, Dangjin.

Sudang-ri in Jeongmi-myeon, where this report originated, borders Yeomi-ri in Unsan-myeon, Seosan, where the wolf-dog breeding farm is located.

Earlier today, the city of Dangjin issued an emergency disaster text message to local residents, urging them to exercise extreme caution and to report any sightings to 119 immediately without approaching the animals.

Previously, at 2:00 a.m. on the 16th, 11 out of 18 wolf-dogs being kept at a farm in Unsan-myeon, Seosan, escaped by jumping over a fence.

Immediately after confirming the situation, the city of Seosan installed three capture traps and used village loudspeaker broadcasts to warn residents to take precautions against potential safety incidents.

Between the 16th and the 19th, seven of the escaped dogs were captured, and one returned to the farm on its own at approximately 11:30 p.m. last night.

It is estimated that a total of three dogs remain at large, consisting of one adult and two five-month-old puppies.

Fortunately, no injuries to people or livestock have been reported so far, but local residents are expressing anxiety.

Although wolf-dogs are not classified as dangerous dogs under the Animal Protection Act, authorities have repeatedly urged the public to avoid approaching them and to report any sightings to 119 immediately.
