Prime Minister nominee Han Seong-sook announced that she has finalized her transition to owning only a single home in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, following the sale of two additional properties, in addition to the sale of her apartment in Jamsil last month.
The preparation team for Han's confirmation hearing released a press statement this afternoon (June 23), stating that Han sold an officetel in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, for 1.5 billion won, and a country house in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, for 500 million won. The final payments for these transactions were completed yesterday and today.
The team explained that the Yeoksam-dong officetel was sold for 570 million won less than its acquisition price of approximately 2.07 billion won, and the Yangpyeong-gun country house was sold for 280 million won less than its purchase price of 780 million won.
Previously, Han sold her Asia Seonsuchon Apartment in Jamsil-dong, Seoul, for 5.2 billion won on May 6, three days before the expiration of the grace period for heavy capital gains tax on multi-home owners, realizing a capital gain of 2.95 billion won over approximately 19 years and 6 months.
Han announced that she donated 500 million won of those gains to an international relief and development organization on the 15th.
The confirmation hearing preparation team stated, "Nominee Han expressed her deep sense of responsibility as a high-ranking public official and her commitment to taking the lead in implementing the government's real estate policy stance."
