A man in his 50s has died after being caught in a machine while working at a recycling facility in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.

According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety today (June 23), the worker, identified as A, was caught in a waste plastic compressor while attempting to remove foreign objects at a recycling facility in Geolpo-dong, Gimpo, at approximately 2:31 p.m. yesterday (June 22).

A died at the scene, and his body was turned over to the police.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, suspecting that A was working without turning off the power to the machine.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor has also issued a work suspension order for the facility.

The ministry plans to investigate whether the facility violated the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, including whether it properly complied with safety regulations.
