Actress Yang Jung-ah (54) is mourning the loss of her mother.

According to sources on June 19, Yang's mother, Choi Jung-ok, has passed away. It is reported that Yang is currently at the funeral home, serving as the chief mourner and receiving guests.

This sad news is particularly heartbreaking as it comes shortly after Yang revealed her mother's battle with illness and her daily life as a caregiver on a recent television broadcast.

Appearing on the KBS 2TV program "Hwang Shin-hye's Let's Live Together," which aired on June 10, Yang shared, "My life has effectively been on hold since last December. My mother has been receiving continuous treatment after being hospitalized for a back fracture." She added with tears, "I have been staying at the hospital with her. I thought she would return home shortly after being admitted, but I didn't know she would be there for so long."

At the time, Yang confessed, "I miss the times when we could make eye contact for even just five minutes, with her saying, 'Jung-ah, is that so?' It is my wish to just make eye contact for five minutes, have her call my name, and talk like we used to." She continued, "I miss her every day, even while she is still alive. It's even harder because we can't make eye contact."

The funeral for the deceased has been set up in Room 22 at the Asan Medical Center Funeral Home in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The funeral procession will take place at 6:40 a.m. on June 21, and the burial site is the Yongin Catholic Cemetery.
