▲ On March 16, ahead of the BTS comeback concert, signs informing the public of road closures were installed around the concert venue at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.

The police announced today (June 15) that they have filed lawsuits for damages against individuals who caused a waste of police resources by posting threats to carry out terror attacks, including against a BTS concert and the Blue House.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency plans to file a lawsuit for 2.28 million won against a man in his 50s, surnamed Kang, who posted a comment online two days before the BTS concert on March 29, stating, "I will put gasoline in water bottles and throw them."

He had posted similar threatening comments 22 times.

The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency also filed a claim for 1.21 million won against an individual who posted online threats last December to "blow up the Blue House, the presidential residence, and apartment complexes and buildings in Bundang-gu."

Furthermore, the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency has filed claims totaling 31.91 million won against four individuals who sent emails over a three-month period starting late last year threatening to blow up locations including Kakao, KT, Gangnam Station, Busan Station, and Cheonan-Asan Station.

The National Police Agency emphasized, "We will continue to actively operate the damages deliberation committees established at each provincial police agency to prevent security gaps caused by the waste of public authority," adding, "We will increase the deterrent effect through both strengthened criminal sanctions and the imposition of tangible disadvantages."
