Former Korean history instructor Jeon Han-gil has announced plans to submit a ballot storage box, which he claims to have secured through a tip-off, to the court or investigative authorities.

Jeon held a press conference today (June 12) at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Jamsil Handball Stadium, the site of a protest demanding the sealing of ballot counting stations. "I have long possessed a significant amount of evidence regarding election fraud," Jeon claimed. "As the saying goes, a long tail eventually gets caught; this time, the evidence is clear enough for all citizens to recognize."

During the event, Jeon unveiled the ballot storage box he claims to have obtained via a tip.

According to Jeon, the box is believed to be one of those that went missing from the Jamsil 7-dong No. 2 polling station, where a shortage of ballots occurred. When the Seoul Eastern District Court visited the site on June 10 to execute a request for evidence preservation filed by Kim Jeong-cheol, a supreme council member of the Reform Party, the box was reportedly already missing.

Jeon plans to visit the Seoul Eastern District Court to discuss handing over the box. However, he stated that if the court fails to recognize the authenticity of the evidence or shows a passive attitude toward taking custody of it, he intends to turn it over to investigative authorities instead.

Lee Seong-jik, a lawyer representing Jeon, explained, "There is a possibility that we will submit it to the joint investigation team of the prosecution and police, which is currently investigating the ballot shortage incident, as evidence of election fraud committed by the National Election Commission."

If Jeon's claims are accurate, the box he recovered is one of the seven ballot storage boxes that the National Election Commission reportedly lost.

In local elections, voters typically receive seven ballots (eight in the case of by-elections) due to the large number of positions being filled. Consequently, it is estimated that there were seven ballot storage boxes at the Jamsil 7-dong No. 2 polling station.

Previously, the Songpa-gu Election Commission stated that it had discarded the ballot storage boxes collected from the No. 2 polling station, but it did not clearly disclose the exact number of boxes.

The box displayed by Jeon is labeled "Seoul Mayoral Election."

Meanwhile, the Seoul Eastern District Court partially granted an additional request for evidence preservation filed by Supreme Council Member Kim Jeong-cheol yesterday. The court has demanded confirmation of facts regarding the missing ballot boxes, including the name of the waste disposal company, the date the items were handed over, the time of disposal, and the current location of any items that were not discarded.
