Yoo Jae-suk brought out seamless chemistry with his close friends Song Eun-yi and Kim Sook.
On the Feb. 10 episode of SBS’s "Whenever Possible", Song Eun-yi and Kim Sook appeared as “Gap friends,” teaming up with the Yoo-Yoo Brothers to hunt for “gaps” around Sangam.
The trio delivered effortless banter from the jump. Watching the perfect timing, Yoo Jae-suk smiled, saying, “They’re true comedians.”
The four then headed to a ssambap spot for lunch. With an upper endoscopy the next day, Kim Sook could only have plain rice porridge, which drew sympathy.
Yoo Jae-suk pretended to worry―“What are we going to do about Sook?”―but once the food arrived, he dove into a full-on mukbang, cracking everyone up. Kim Sook could only watch her besties feast, looking genuinely bummed.
Kim Sook praised Yoo Yeon-seok as “more down-to-earth than he looks.” Song Eun-yi added, “He gives off a handsome Kwang-soo vibe.” Yoo Jae-suk shot back, “Then what does Kwang-soo become?” sparking laughter.
Friends since their early-debut days, the trio also got candid. Kim Sook recalled tearing up at last year’s year-end awards.
“Every year, Eun-yi cheered me on. ‘Sook, you can do it. You can win the Grand Prize.’ She cheered me on again that night. Then right before the Grand Prize, they announced the Top Excellence Award―and Eun-yi’s name was called. It was her first award in 33 years. She’s always supported me, so seeing her win moved me so much. I cried,” she said, celebrating Song Eun-yi’s milestone.
Kim Sook added that Eun-yi has never been lucky with awards, not even a Best Newcomer trophy. Song Eun-yi agreed with a laugh: “I did well, but Jo Hye-ryun burst onto the scene like a comet, so I couldn’t get the newcomer award.”
Yoo Jae-suk chimed in with his own tale: “I thought I’d win Best Newcomer, so I had a suit tailor-made. I didn’t get the award and nearly died paying it off in installments.” Yoo Yeon-seok shared he also missed out on a newcomer win, saying, “Jung-seok hyung won it for playing ‘Nab-deuk-i,’” expressing his regret. Still, in variety shows, he’s the only one of the four who has actually snagged a newcomer trophy, earning envy.
Later, the four pulled off their second “gap mission” by the skin of their teeth and erupted in cheers. Kim Sook and Song Eun-yi beamed, “Our 30-year friendship means everything clicks without saying a word. And unlike other shows, it’s fun that we can lovingly roast our best friends here.”
