In "Doctor X: Mafia in White," Kim Ji-won undertakes an unprecedented surgical method for an 8-year-old pediatric cancer patient.
Ahead of the broadcast of Episode 9 on November 6, the production team of SBS' Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Mafia in White", which has been captivating the small screen while firmly maintaining the No. 1 viewership rating for four consecutive weeks, released stills of Gye Soo-jung (played by Kim Ji-won) declaring an unprecedented surgery.
In the released stills, Gye Soo-jung gazes at the doctors in the conference room with determined and unwavering eyes. To save Lee Hyun-ah (played by Lee Chae-yoo), an 8-year-old pediatric cancer patient who has no other way to survive, Gye Soo-jung shocks everyone by announcing that she will perform an unprecedented ex-vivo surgery that involves removing all six organs from the body to resect the tumor and then reimplanting them.
However, hospital director Boo Seung-kwon (played by Son Hyun-joo) strongly puts the brakes on the procedure, citing its risks and procedural justifications, leading to a head-on clash between their convictions. The confrontation between Gye Soo-jung, who plunges into the impossible to save a patient, and Boo Seung-kwon, who seeks to protect the hospital and patient from unverified risks, is expected to reach its climax.
In particular, curiosity is heightened as a preview shows Gye Soo-jung—who has never allowed a single failure thanks to her surreal surgical techniques and astonishing speed—bowing deeply to the doctors of Guseo University Hospital and pleading, "Please help me," in front of a surgery that she cannot complete on her own. Expectations are rising over whether Gye Soo-jung will be able to overcome everyone's opposition and create a miracle.
Episode 9 of "Doctor X: Mafia in White" airs tonight, Friday, November 6, at 9:50 PM.
