Veteran South Korean table tennis player Woo-jin Jang staged a thrilling comeback to reach the top of the WTT Champions, becoming the first South Korean player to claim the title.
Ranked 10th in the world, Jang was pushed to the brink after falling behind 3-1 in game points against 18th-ranked Patrick Franziska of Germany in the final, but pulled off a dramatic turnaround.
After taking two consecutive games to tie the score at 3-3, he secured three straight points from an 8-8 tie in the decisive seventh game to wrap up the victory.
The moment his victory was confirmed, Jang lay flat on the court to savor the joy of winning.
Jang is the first South Korean player to top the podium at the Champions event, which invites the top 32 ranked players.
[Woo-jin Jang / SeA: "I just thought, 'Let's not give up, and an opportunity will come at least once.' Because I played with that mindset, I think I was able to create this kind of dramatic, miraculous match."]
