The Cyber Operations Command announced that it won the international cyber competition "CyberNet 2026," held in Oldebroek, the Netherlands, from October 26 to 29 local time.

CyberNet is an annual competition hosted since 2018 by the Netherlands Defence Cyber Command (DCC), with member states and key partner nations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) participating.

This year, nine nations, including South Korea, Germany, France, and Japan, took part to conduct real-time cyberattack and defense operations.

The South Korean military finished as runner-up in 2021 when it first competed in the event, and claimed its first victory the following year in 2022.

Since then, it has maintained the top spot for five consecutive years through this year.

"Through our fifth consecutive victory, we were able to demonstrate our military's outstanding cyber operations capabilities to the world once again," said Army Brig. Gen. Bae Song-young, commander of the Cyber Operations Command. "We will continue to devote ourselves fully to strengthening our mission capabilities."

The Cyber Operations Command plans to bolster its cyber operational capabilities by hosting "Whitehat 2026," a defense cybersecurity competition and conference involving the private, public, and military sectors, and pursuing South Korea-U.S. cyber alliance exercises.
