The Japanese animated film Movie Version Chiikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island has claimed the top spot at the weekend box office for four consecutive weeks.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing computer network on the 2nd, Movie Version Chiikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island attracted 221,657 moviegoers nationwide from October 30 to November 1. Its cumulative audience count reached 2,583,857.
Having opened on September 30, Movie Version Chiikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island capitalized on its four-week consecutive reign at the weekend box office to surpass 2 million viewers in 25 days and 2.5 million viewers in 33 days.
The second place at the box office went to Brad Pitt's new film Heart of the Beast, which mobilized 162,795 people over the same period. Its cumulative audience stands at 215,242.
