A man in his 30s, identified as A, has been arrested for allegedly wielding a weapon against a fellow station staff member at Wondang Station on Seoul Subway Line 3.
The Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court held a pre-trial detention hearing for A yesterday (October 30) and issued the warrant, stating that the criminal charges are established and there is a concern that he may attempt to flee.
A reportedly told police during questioning that he committed the crime after taking an excessive amount of his prescribed medication for a mental illness, adding that he does not remember the moment of the attack.
B, the colleague who sustained severe injuries from the weapon attack by A, is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
