North Korea held an unmanned aerial technology exhibition yesterday (October 29) attended by Kim Jong-un, president of the State Affairs Commission, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
Suicide attack drones, multipurpose drones, and 600mm multiple rocket launchers of the North Korean military were featured.
The state news agency reported that air-to-surface missiles launched from drones precisely struck island targets with a 100% hit rate, and that combat firing of the ultra-precision 600mm large-caliber multiple rocket launcher, dubbed the "Sniper," was also revealed before a crowd for the first time.
It also claimed that the combat reliability and effectiveness of all major weapon systems were satisfactorily verified, and released footage showing scenes such as strikes on simulated targets presumed to be South Korean military frontline guard posts or U.S. tanks.
In a speech at the exhibition, Kim stressed that power is peace, highlighting the "integration of artificial intelligence into unmanned equipment systems."
[Korean Central Television: Comrade Kim Jong-un emphasized, "Power is peace, and peace can only be guaranteed by strength," and "We must also achieve miraculous results in the fields of unmanned aerial technology and defense artificial intelligence."]
Kim was accompanied at the event by his wife, Ri Sol-ju, and daughter, Ju-ae, while senior military and party officials, including Pak Jong-chon, vice chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Military Commission, and Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui, attended in large numbers.
The site of the test-firing at yesterday's exhibition is presumed to be Kalma Airfield in Wonsan. South Korea's military stated that about 10 short-range ballistic missiles fired by North Korea from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea yesterday afternoon flew about 250 kilometers, adding that it is analyzing their precise specifications.
