A woman in her 20s has been arrested by police after visiting her ex-partner's home and threatening to set it on fire.
The Seoul Guro Police Station arrested the woman, in her 20s, identified as A, at around 7:20 p.m. yesterday (October 29) at the scene on charges including violation of the Anti-Stalking Act, special intimidation, trespassing, and preparation for arson of a building currently in use.
A is accused of going to the home of her ex-partner, a man in his 20s, and threatening him by pouring a flammable substance on herself.
Reports indicate that A began contacting the man's acquaintances via social media starting on October 26 while the victimized man was away on an overseas trip, and upon learning of this, the man reported A to the police.
The police received an additional stalking report the day before yesterday (October 28) and issued emergency protective measures prohibiting A from approaching the man. However, when A violated the measures and went to threaten the man, she was apprehended.
Previously, the police reportedly applied for provisional measures against A, such as attaching an electronic tracking device and detaining her in a holding cell, but the request was dismissed.
The two have reportedly filed mutual reports with the police multiple times in the past regarding dating violence and stalking.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A today.
