Photographer and media artist Hong Jin-hwan has been named the final winner of the Artist of the Year 2026, jointly hosted by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) and the SBS Cultural Foundation.
Hong was recognized for prompting viewers to rethink conventional visual systems and power dynamics using photography, video, and web programming.
Launched in 2012, the award selects four artists each year, providing them with opportunities to produce new works and hold exhibitions before naming a final winner.
The Artist of the Year exhibition will run at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art until December 6.
