Hacking breaches have been consecutively confirmed at Daishin Securities, Mirae Asset Global Investments, and the cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb.

It has been found that Daishin Securities lost personal information such as the names, addresses, and phone numbers of approximately 38,000 customers, as well as credit information including encrypted Daishin Securities accounts and deposit/withdrawal account numbers.

The leak reportedly came to light after an investigation was launched when abnormal hacker access was detected on October 17 on a server related to non-face-to-face account openings.

Mirae Asset also stated that on the same day, it detected abnormal external access to some of its web systems and initiated emergency blocking measures.

However, it explained that only information utilizing certain business systems was leaked, and it has been determined that investor information or personal credit information was not compromised.

Cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb also suffered a hacking incident.

Yesterday (October 27), the exchange confirmed that an outsider had unauthorized access to its internal mobile business system, resulting in a leak of personal information.

While it is currently known that only employee information was leaked, the exact scope of the breach is being analyzed without ruling out the possibility that member information may also be included.

From banks and savings banks to insurance companies, and now securities firms and cryptocurrency exchanges, hacking damages are spreading virtually across the entire financial sector.

The Financial Supervisory Service has deployed emergency on-site inspection teams to Daishin Securities, where over 30,000 pieces of customer information were leaked, and Bithumb, where employee information was compromised, to investigate the causes of the incidents and the scale of the damage.
