Over allegations raised by People Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo regarding First Lady Kim Hye-kyung's golf outing, the party leadership joined the offensive today (October 27), claiming she should be subject to a special inspection. The Democratic Party strongly pushed back, demanding an end to irresponsible, hit-and-run disclosures.

People Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo took issue today (October 27) with the timing of a golf course reservation.
He claimed that on October 10, even after being briefed on a ceiling collapse incident in Daegu while playing golf with family, another golf course reservation was made that very same day.
[Joo Jin-woo / People Power Party Lawmaker: Not caring whether citizens are injured or not, playing golf and booking the next golf round—do you not care about the public at all?]
A Cheong Wa Dae official countered, saying October 10 was merely the date registered in the reservation system, not the date the booking was actually made, and that lawmaker Joo had once again made a false claim.
Today, the People Power Party leadership also joined Joo's offensive.
They urged that Cheong Wa Dae Special Inspector Choi Gil-soo, appointed for the first time in 10 years, investigate the controversy surrounding Mrs. Kim's golf outings.
[Chung Jeom-sik / People Power Party Floor Leader: We urge that the very first mission of the Special Inspector be to investigate the controversy over First Lady Kim Hye-kyung's 'emperor golf' without leaving a single doubt.]
The Democratic Party criticized Joo for repeatedly making irresponsible allegations and engaging in provocative, inflammatory politics.
[Han Byung-do / Democratic Party Floor Leader: He is an empty vessel and a broken loudspeaker. If generating and spreading fabricated and false information is that much fun, how about switching careers to become a 'cyber wrecker' YouTuber or a novelist?]
Joo dismissed the Democratic Party's demand for an apology for mistakenly mentioning professional golfer Lydia Ko, calling it nothing more than an attempt to water down the issue.
[Joo Jin-woo / People Power Party Lawmaker: (Do you have any intention of apologizing for mentioning Lydia Ko?) The Democratic Party's framing of demanding an apology is merely a framing tactic to dilute this.]
Joo added that tips and reports inevitably contain some degree of error, reiterating his call to uncover the truth.
