The court will decide today (October 27) whether to issue an arrest warrant for a man in his 40s, identified as suspect A, who is accused of tracking down and killing his ex-girlfriend in Daejeon after she had reported him for stalking.
Daejeon District Court announced that it will hold a warrant review hearing for A, who faces murder charges, at 2:30 p.m. today.
A is accused of killing a woman in her 40s, with whom he previously had a romantic relationship, in Jung-gu, Daejeon, around 12:30 p.m. on October 24 and then fleeing the scene.
Immediately after the crime, A removed the USIM card from his mobile phone, took a taxi to Incheon International Airport, and then fled to Gangneung, Gangwon Province. However, he was arrested by police at around 7:40 a.m. on October 25, about 17 hours after the incident, at a lodging in Gangneung.
During police questioning, A reportedly admitted to the crime while claiming that he committed the act unintentionally during an argument with the victim.
