On October 25, the day after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's visit to Dandong in China's Liaoning Province, North Korean state media extensively reported on the trip, promoting strong North Korea-China relations to its people.
State media outlets, including the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) and Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers' Party of Korea, released related reports and 39 photographs today, the day after Kim's visit to China.
The front page of Rodong Sinmun was filled with news of Kim's visit to Dandong ahead of China's anniversary marking its entry into the Korean War.
A photo showing Kim shaking hands with Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and China's fourth-ranking official who came to greet him, was placed prominently in the center.
Across pages 2 to 3, the newspaper published photos of major itinerary events, including Kim laying flowers at the Memorial Tower to the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, touring the memorial hall, and inspecting a bus factory.
Korean Central Television (KCTV) broadcast an 18-minute detailed program covering Kim's entire itinerary in Dandong.
The broadcast sequentially featured key scenes, ranging from Kim's motorcade crossing the empty New Yalu River Bridge to receptions by Chinese officials, visits to the Memorial Hall of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and tours of industrial facilities.
Reports also said commemorative events were held in North Korea to mark the anniversary of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, designated by China to commemorate its first victory in the Korean War.
In Sinpyeong County, North Hwanghae Province, a cemetery for fallen soldiers of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army was renovated into a martyrs' cemetery, and a completion ceremony was held on October 24, KCNA reported.
