An elementary school student has died after falling into the water at a reservoir fishing spot in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.
According to the Gyeonggi Anseong Police Station and fire authorities on the 25th, a 119 emergency call was received at 11:52 p.m. the previous day, reporting that an elementary school student, identified as A, was missing at a reservoir fishing spot in Juksan-myeon, Anseong.
Deploying underwater drones and divers for the search, fire authorities found and retrieved student A in a state of cardiac arrest at around 3:30 a.m. today in 1.7-meter-deep water near a floating bungalow.
Police and firefighting authorities determined that student A, who had visited the fishing spot with family, slipped and fell into the water at around 10:30 p.m. the previous day while moving from a bungalow where he was staying with peers to an adjacent bungalow where his family was located.
Based on the absence of external trauma or suspected foul play on the body, police are treating the incident as a safety accident and investigating the exact circumstances.
