A body was found yesterday (October 20) inside a passenger car that plunged into the sea near Mattol Port in Sinpyeong-myeon, Dangjin.

According to the Pyeongtaek Coast Guard today, authorities recovered the body from the driver's seat of the submerged vehicle at around 4:50 PM.

The Coast Guard had launched an offshore search operation after receiving a report from a fisherman at around 6:25 PM the previous day stating that a car had fallen into the port. They deployed patrol vessels, underwater sonar, underwater drones, and rescue personnel, including divers.

The Coast Guard plans to hand over the body to the bereaved family once the identity is confirmed and investigate the exact cause of the accident.

A Coast Guard official stated, "We are currently verifying the identity of the deceased, and the vehicle has not yet been salvaged."
